Brentwood Siding Done by People Who Show Up
Brentwood is one of the largest hamlets in Suffolk, and most of its housing went up between the 1950s and 1970s: capes, ranches, splits and two-story colonials on straight streets both sides of Brentwood Road. A lot of these homes still carry their original aluminum or a first-generation vinyl that has gone chalky, dented or loose. AP Siding & Windows replaces it with insulated vinyl, vinyl shake, board and batten or fiber cement, and we take care of window replacement and roofing in the same visit when the homeowner wants the whole exterior done once. Our installers are AP employees.
Brentwood is inland, well north of the bay, so salt is not the issue. The weather here is sun on the open blocks near the Sagtikos and Crooked Hill Road, and shade and damp on the heavily treed streets near Brentwood State Park and the old Pilgrim State grounds. Sun fades thin siding on south and west faces; shade grows mildew on the north side. We spec a thicker, colorfast panel for sunny walls and a vented drainage plane for shaded ones, and we keep the bottom course clear of grade and mulch everywhere.
Siding styles we install
Horizontal Vinyl Lap Siding
The classic look for capes, ranches, and colonials. Low maintenance, dozens of colors, and never needs painting.
Cedar & Cedar-Look Shake Siding
The look of cedar shakes without staining, splitting, or rot. Great on a whole home or as gable and dormer accents.
Board & Batten Siding
Vertical siding for farmhouse, modern, and coastal exteriors, often mixed with lap siding for contrast.
Fiber Cement Siding
The premium option: heavy, fire-resistant, and very durable, with a real painted-wood look.
Signs it's time to replace your siding
- Cracked, warped, or loose panels, especially after a storm
- Faded or chalky color that no longer cleans up
- Soft spots, rot, or mildew along seams and trim
- Water stains or peeling paint on interior walls
- Drafty rooms and rising heating and cooling bills
Siding and windows in one project
Replacing windows at the same time as siding is the smartest way to do both. With the old siding off, new windows can be flashed and sealed properly on every side, and all the exterior trim comes out clean and consistent. You get one crew and one schedule for the whole exterior.

Brentwood Neighborhoods We Serve
The streets around the Brentwood LIRR station and Suffolk Avenue, including the older blocks near Ross Memorial Park, hold capes and colonials from the 1950s. North Brentwood, between the Expressway and the Northern State around Suffolk County Community College, is 1960s and 70s splits and high-ranches. South Brentwood toward the Bay Shore line, off Fifth Avenue and Brentwood Road, is mostly ranches. The Crooked Hill Road and Commack Road corridors on the west side, near the Pilgrim State property and Brentwood State Park, have ranches on wooded lots, and the east side near Central Islip is a similar post-war mix.
Serving the Whole Brentwood Hamlet
Every part of Brentwood is in our coverage, from the Northern State down to the Bay Shore line and from Commack Road east to the Central Islip border. Our crews also serve the surrounding Town of Islip hamlets and cross the line into Town of Babylon and Town of Huntington communities to the west and north.
All siding townsFrequently asked questions
What does new siding cost on a Brentwood cape or colonial?
The two-story colonials in Brentwood carry more wall area than the capes and ranches, so the price moves with square footage first. Then it depends on the siding product, whether we strip old aluminum or vinyl, and the trim and window flashing needed. Vinyl is the lowest-cost choice, fiber cement the highest. We measure the house and give you a written price.
Which department issues siding permits in Brentwood?
Brentwood is an unincorporated hamlet, so permits come from the Town of Islip Building Division at Town Hall in Islip, not from any village office. We fill out and file the application, provide the Town our contractor license and insurance certificates, and schedule the final inspection when the siding is finished. You sign where needed and that is it.
What siding stands up to the sun on Brentwood's open streets?
South and west walls on the wide-open blocks near the Sagtikos and Crooked Hill Road fade cheap vinyl fast. For those homes we recommend insulated vinyl from a line with a strong fade warranty, especially in darker colors, or fiber cement, which holds its finish for many years. Either goes over housewrap with flashing so the occasional driving rain stays out too.
How long does siding take on a Brentwood house?
A cape or ranch in vinyl generally takes three to five working days with our crew on site each day. Two-story colonials and high-ranches lean toward five. Fiber cement takes longer because every board is cut, primed and caulked. Rain or high wind can push a day back, and we call you the night before so you know when to expect us.
Can windows be replaced during the siding job in Brentwood?
Yes, and if your windows are original we recommend it. With the old siding off we set new flanged windows against the sheathing, tape and flash them, and tie in the housewrap before the siding covers them. Doing it later means cutting into finished walls. One Town permit covers both, and you deal with a single crew and a single cleanup.
Our Brentwood home has aluminum siding from the 1960s. Can it be covered?
We would rather remove it. Aluminum of that age usually sits over fiberboard sheathing that may be soft or wet, and siding over it traps moisture against an uneven surface. We take it off, inspect and replace any bad sheathing, install housewrap and flashing, and then side. The old aluminum goes to a recycler and you end up with a flat, properly sealed wall.
Why Brentwood Homeowners Choose AP
- In-house crews. AP employees do the tear-off and the install on your Brentwood home. We do not sell the job and send someone else to do it.
- Written price after we measure. After measuring every wall and counting windows, corners and trim, we write the price down. It stays the same from signing to final cleanup.
- Based nearby in East Northport. Brentwood is about 20 minutes from our shop by Commack Road or the Sagtikos Parkway, which makes scheduling an estimate simple.
