A Siding Contractor for East Moriches
East Moriches is the last Brookhaven hamlet before the Southampton line, and it has kept a semi-rural feel. Along Montauk Highway and on the lanes running south to the bay there are 19th century farmhouses and shingle-sided cottages, many with later additions. Inland the housing is 1960s and 70s ranches and capes on generous lots, with a scattering of newer homes near Sunrise Highway. AP Siding & Windows installs vinyl lap, insulated vinyl, vinyl shake, cedar shake, board and batten and fiber cement on all of them, and we replace windows and roofs within the same project.
The hamlet fronts Moriches Bay, and Seatuck Cove, Tuthill Cove and Hart Cove bring the water and the flood zone deep into the residential lanes. Homes near the Moriches Inlet side take ocean wind that crosses the barrier beach with nothing to slow it. The old wood siding here shows cupping, loose nails and rotted bottom courses. We respond with stainless fasteners, drainage wrap, heavy flashing at every window and roof intersection, and honest advice about whether cedar's upkeep is worth it versus a fiber cement or vinyl shingle.

What we would put on a East Moriches house
- Fiber cement Performs well on exposed East Moriches houses. It holds a painted finish in salt air, resists wind-driven debris impact better than lighter materials, and carries a Class A fire rating. It needs a flat, sound nailing surface, which is part of why we tear off rather than install over.
- Insulated vinyl Suits the compact post-war stock here, adding R-value across the studs on houses framed 2x4 with thin wall insulation. Near the water we pay more attention to the fastening and the bottom-course detailing than to the panel itself.
- Standard vinyl Holds up near the bay better than people expect, because it has no finish to lose to salt. The decisions that matter more here are the fastening and what we find at the bottom of the wall during tear-off.
Permits for siding work in East Moriches
Exterior work here permits through the Town of Brookhaven. Brookhaven is the largest township in New York State by land area, and permit review can run longer than the smaller towns to the west, so it is worth filing early rather than at the point you want to start.
The part worth checking first: Brookhaven contains eight incorporated villages, and the Town does not issue permits for any of them. Belle Terre, Bellport, Lake Grove, Old Field, Patchogue, Poquott, Port Jefferson and Shoreham each run their own building department. Several of them share mailing addresses and ZIPs with the surrounding hamlets, which is how homeowners end up filing at the wrong desk.
We confirm which authority covers your address before anything is filed.
How the job runs
- One We measure on site and open a section of the existing siding so you can see what is behind it. No phone estimates.
- Two You get an itemized written price with material, colour, trim scope and schedule on it.
- Three We confirm the permit authority for your address and file what is required.
- Four Our own installers do the work. Tear-off to sheathing, repairs, new water-resistive barrier, then siding and trim. Driveway stays usable and we magnet-sweep for nails before we leave each day.
- Five Walkthrough with you before we call it finished.

East Moriches Lanes and Waterfront
Montauk Highway through the hamlet center, around the East Moriches Elementary and the fire department, has the older farmhouses and clapboard homes close to the road. The lanes south of the highway, Atlantic Avenue, Bay Avenue and the streets around Seatuck Cove and Tuthill Cove, run down to large waterfront lots with docks and raised homes. The Hart Cove side toward the Westhampton line has similar bayfront properties. North of the highway, between the LIRR tracks and Sunrise Highway, the parcels are wooded and the homes are mid-century ranches and later colonials, with the Seatuck Environmental Association preserve at the south end.
East Moriches and Both Sides of the Town Line
We serve all of the 11940 ZIP, from the coves on Moriches Bay north to Sunrise Highway. Center Moriches and Moriches are on the same route west, and we cross into Southampton Town to cover Remsenburg, Westhampton and Eastport as well. Manorville is a short drive north.
All siding townsFrequently asked questions
How is a siding estimate figured for an East Moriches house?
We measure the house, not the lot. Older farmhouses with porches and additions have more wall and trim than they look, and raised bayfront homes carry extra height at the base. Square footage, the material, tear-off and sheathing repair, and trim and window wrap set the price. Vinyl is the economical end and fiber cement the premium end. The written number follows the measure.
Is East Moriches under Brookhaven or Southampton for siding permits?
Brookhaven. East Moriches is a hamlet of the Town of Brookhaven, so the Town of Brookhaven Building Division is the permit authority, even though Southampton Town begins just east at Eastport. A same-material re-side usually needs no permit, but sheathing, window-opening and structural changes do, and waterfront lots in the flood zone may carry extra conditions. We check and file for you.
What siding holds up on the coves in East Moriches?
Near Seatuck, Tuthill and Hart coves the exposure is as hard as anywhere on Moriches Bay. Fiber cement handles salt, wind and flying debris better than anything else and paints well on an old house. Insulated vinyl resists salt and stiffens the wall with no upkeep. Cedar is fine if you commit to sealing it. Every bayside job gets stainless fasteners and heavy flashing.
How long will siding take on my East Moriches home?
For vinyl on a standard ranch or cape, three to five working days. Farmhouses with porches and trim, raised bayfront homes, and any fiber cement install take longer. Wind off the inlet is the main delay; we do not hang panels in a stiff blow. We lay out the schedule before starting and keep you informed if weather pushes it.
Can I replace windows and siding at the same time in East Moriches?
Yes, and it makes the most sense on older homes where the windows are original. With the wall open we flash each new unit to the sheathing and finish the siding tight to the frame. Double-hung, casement, bay and bow, sliding, awning, custom and basement windows are available in vinyl or fiberglass on one written estimate.
My East Moriches house is on a cove and in a flood zone. What changes?
The lower wall. Below the base flood elevation we use flood-resistant materials, and on an elevated home the enclosure under the floor must keep its flood vents open. Everything above that line is a standard install. A re-side on its own seldom triggers floodplain review, but we pull your lot's FEMA designation at the estimate so the spec is clear from the start.
Why East Moriches Homeowners Choose AP
- In-house crews. AP's own installers do East Moriches work. The distance from our shop does not change that; we do not hand far-east jobs to a local subcontractor.
- Written price after we measure. We measure the farmhouse additions and the raised base on bayfront homes in person, then write the price down. That is the contract figure.
- Based nearby in East Northport. East Moriches is about an hour from our shop, out Sunrise Highway and down Eastport Manor Road to Montauk Highway. We schedule east-end jobs in consecutive days so the crew is on site without gaps.
