Siding Contractors in Hampton Bays, NY
Bay on three sides and a working-class housing stock: AP sides Hampton Bays homes and measures for free.
Siding Built for Hampton Bays Weather
Hampton Bays is the most year-round of the Hamptons, and its houses reflect that. Most of the hamlet was built out between the 1950s and the 1980s with capes, ranches, and high ranches on quarter-acre lots, plus older bungalows near the canal and in Squiretown that started as summer places and were winterized later. A lot of that housing is wearing original aluminum or 1990s vinyl that has chalked and cracked. AP Siding & Windows replaces it with horizontal lap, insulated vinyl, vinyl shake, board and batten, cedar shake for the owners who want it, and fiber cement on the bigger waterfront rebuilds.
Water surrounds Hampton Bays. Shinnecock Bay to the south, Peconic Bay to the north, Tiana and Penny Pond in between, and the canal running through the middle. There is no sheltered side. Fasteners rust, aluminum pits, and loose vinyl gets peeled back by a southeast gale coming off the inlet. We nail everything on a tighter schedule here, use hot-dipped or stainless fasteners as standard, and set insulated vinyl or fiber cement on the exposed elevations because both take wind better than hollow panels. On houses out on Rampasture and along Dune Road, we build to hurricane-rated fastening, not the minimum.

Hampton Bays Neighborhoods We Cover
Ponquogue and the streets south of Montauk Highway toward the bridge are a mix of older cottages and larger rebuilt homes on the bay. Rampasture Point and Tiana Shores push out into Shinnecock Bay and take the most weather. Squiretown and the area around the Shinnecock Canal hold the oldest small houses in the hamlet. Red Creek and the wooded lots off Newtown Road and toward Red Creek Pond face the Peconic side. North of Sunrise Highway, around Bellows Pond and the streets off Flanders Road, are quieter mid-century subdivisions. Main Street and the blocks near the library are the hamlet center.
From the Canal to Tiana Beach
Every part of Hampton Bays is on our route: Ponquogue, Rampasture, Tiana, Squiretown, Red Creek, and the neighborhoods north of Sunrise Highway. Crossing the canal east to Shinnecock Hills and Southampton, or west to East Quogue and Quogue, uses the same crew and the same schedule.
All siding townsFrequently asked questions
What is the going rate to side a Hampton Bays ranch or cape?
We cannot give a number without measuring, and anyone who does is guessing. The square footage of wall, the material, whether old aluminum has to come off and be hauled, and the amount of trim and window wrap all move the price. Vinyl is the economical pick; fiber cement the top of the range. After we measure, you get a written price that does not change.
Does Hampton Bays require a permit for new siding?
Hampton Bays is an unincorporated hamlet, so there is no village building department. The Town of Southampton Building Division in Southampton is the authority. Replacing siding like for like generally does not need a permit, but sheathing replacement, structural repair, or work on a house in a flood zone may. We check your parcel before we start and pull whatever the Town asks for.
What siding holds up on the bay side of Hampton Bays?
The south side, from Ponquogue to Rampasture, takes salt and wind directly off Shinnecock Bay. Insulated vinyl holds its shape in gusts better than hollow panel, and fiber cement is the most durable choice if the budget allows. Real cedar works but needs regular care. What matters as much as the material is the fasteners, so we use stainless or hot-dipped nails on every bayfront wall.
How many days will a Hampton Bays siding job take?
A vinyl re-side on a typical Hampton Bays cape or ranch is three to five working days. Fiber cement adds days because it is heavy and cut on site. Waterfront houses also lose days to wind, since we will not hang siding in a gale off the inlet. We block the whole job on the calendar and keep the crew here until it is done.
Should I replace windows before or during the siding work in Hampton Bays?
During. Many Hampton Bays houses have had windows replaced once already without proper flashing, and bay-side wind finds those gaps. With the old siding off we set new double-hung, casement, slider, bay and bow, or basement windows against the sheathing, flash them, and run new siding to the frame. One crew, one visit, one tight wall.
My house is in a flood zone near Shinnecock Bay. Does that affect siding?
Large parts of Ponquogue, Rampasture, Tiana Shores, and Dune Road are in FEMA flood zones. Siding alone does not normally trigger flood-code review, but if the project includes a lot of repair or is part of a bigger renovation, the Town may apply its substantial improvement rules. We flag it during the estimate so you know before you commit to anything.
Why Hampton Bays Homeowners Choose AP
- In-house crews. AP's own installers do the work in Hampton Bays. Nobody from another company shows up at your house, and the same faces are there through the last day of cleanup.
- Written price after we measure. We walk the house, measure the walls, note the exposure, and write a price. If old aluminum or damaged sheathing changes the scope, we talk before we touch it.
- Based nearby in East Northport. Our shop is about 75 minutes west on Sunrise Highway, so we treat Hampton Bays as a block-out job: the crew arrives, stays on site every day, and finishes before moving on.
